Exhibition Opening: Look at the Sun

  The opening of the exhibition “Look at the Sun” by artist Ivana Skroza will be held on Thursday, August 25, at 8:00 p.m. at the street in front of the museum. Ivana Skroza was born in Šibenik where she also completed primary and secondary school. From 1992 to 1998, she lived in Milan, Italy, where she completed her education. After returning to Šibenik, she got a job as an art teacher at Murterski Škoji Elementary School in Murter and Vjekoslav Kaleb Elementary School in Tisno, where she still works. She participated in many art workshops for children. Betina Gajeta Festival

During this year’s Festival of the Betina Gajeta, activities will be held to encourage and preserve the cultural heritage, knowledge and skills of local shipbuilders, as well as the skills of sailing and rowing in a wooden boat in the traditional way.                                       This year is the jubilee year for the association Betinska gajeta 1740, and it includes a number of events intended for a wider audience – workshops, lectures, traditional sailing and rowing demonstrations… Three evenings will be held at the street in front of the museum – a workshop for making small wooden boats intended for children aged 10 to 14, a lecture by Krešimir…

Exhibition opening and book promotion: Quarneroli – Hrvati na Ledenom moru

We invite you to the next temporary exhibition this summer: Hrvati na Ledenom moru 1872. – 1874. / Croats on the Ice Sea 1872 – 1874 by the Quarneroli Lions Club from Lovran. This exhibition reveals the story of the Croatian mariners who took part in scientific research in the Arctic 1872 as part of the expedition of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. An impressive part of the exhibition is definitely the scalemodel of the Admiral Tegethoff – the ship built for the expedition. The model, built in a scale of 1:40 is the work of modeler Željko Skomeršić from Krk. On the same evening, the presentation of the book of the same name, a reprint of Petar Kuničić’s book from 1893 about the Austro-Hungarian Arctic Expedition…

New museum publication: Boje baštine (The Colours of Heritage)

Our new museum publication “The Colours of Heritage” presents folk costumes worn in the past times in Betina, on our island Murter. Folk costume is a precious treasure of the local community. The way of decorating traditional clothing was passed down from generation to generation. The map contains educational materials and coloring sheets, and is intended for children and adults.

Betina Week of Folklore

During Betina Week of Folkore two wonderful evenings were held in front of our musuem. First, we opened the Exhibition of Scarfs from the collection of our Melita & Ajka, members of Zora Cultural Association. We talked with the authors of the exhibition and learned more about the motifs on the scarves, what type of scarf was worn in different occasions, ways to wear a scarf… The exhibition will be set up during the Betina Week of Folklore. We had a lot of interesting things to see in the Evening of Old Arts and Crafts. Opening of the Betina Museum’s open-air exhibition

On Saturday, June 8th, we opened our open-air exhibition. The minister of culture of the Republic of Croatia, Nina Obuljen Koržinek, personally attended the opening ceremony. Guided by the director of our Museum and the Mayor of the Municipality of Tisno, she visited the museum outside the walls – traditional wooden boats in the harbour and our permanent exhibition inside the museum building. Betina Museum’s  open-air exhibition is a unique project in the Republic of Croatia. The most beautiful traditional wooden boats are preserved and presented in situ. Apart from becoming of greater importance at the cultural level, boats represent the identity of the local community and the area in which they originated.
