Wooden boat is in the heart of the local community on the island of Murter. With the desire of bringing closer to the children the love for a wooden boat through learning maritime skills on board we started a summer school of traditional sailing and rowing. The program was created together with the Betinska gajeta 1740 association, whose members lead the program and act as mentors while on sea. Sailing trips are held in collaboration with the members of the association, depending on the availability of mentors – who work voluntarily on the project.
The preferred age of participants is from 8 to 14 years. The emphasis is put on local children for one of the goals of the program is that every local child should know how to handle a wooden boat and also the basics of behavior at sea.
