This year we’ll take part of the International Children’s Festival and organize a workshop for kids here in Betina. We’ll make the Betina gajeta scale model. The workshop will be held from 26th of June till the 01st of July in the evening hours – from 19:30 – 21:00.
The job is divided into phases in accordance with the order of the work.
First day will be the day of grinding and fine shaping of the wood, linking the main components together along with the keel and repairing of the surface. We’ll also draw parts for the second phase which follows the second and the third day of the workshop – cutting and sawing all the small parts of the boat’s equipment. The parts need to be fine-shaped in order to ease their placing on the boat which will be done on the fourth day of the workshop along with the painting of the boat hull.
On the fifth day we’ll allow ourselves a little artistic freedom and get the boat sails painted inspired by the colours of the Festival. We’ll also put the sail on to the boom.
Last day is reserved for the party of course. The festivity that’s always held in Betina shipyards when a new wooden boat is launched is called Kanata and we’ll definitely make our own little Kanata for our shipbuilders outside the museum when the work is done!
