On Saturday, June 8th, we opened our open-air exhibition.
The minister of culture of the Republic of Croatia, Nina Obuljen Koržinek, personally attended the opening ceremony.
Guided by the director of our Museum and the Mayor of the Municipality of Tisno, she visited the museum outside the walls – traditional wooden boats in the harbour and our permanent exhibition inside the museum building.
Betina Museum’s open-air exhibition is a unique project in the Republic of Croatia. The most beautiful traditional wooden boats are preserved and presented in situ. Apart from becoming of greater importance at the cultural level, boats represent the identity of the local community and the area in which they originated. Each wooden boat in its form presents the area in which it originated, the sea in which is sailing, the purpose for which is built and the owner who uses it.
The ceremony has been enriched by the performance of the Moreška – Korčula Cultural Society, performing the traditional knight’s play – Moreška, and the performance of our hosts, Zora Folklore Society from Betina performing traditional songs and dances.
