Night of Museums in Betina: Visible and Invisible Worlds!
Unveiling Hidden Stories and Artifacts!
This is our 10th Night of Museums in Betina! In collaboration with our loyal friends, volunteers, and partners, and following this year’s theme, we have prepared an exciting program. This year, we are joined by the women’s choir KUD Zora from Betina, MNK Kalafat, the Betina quiz scene, many students from Murterski Škoji and Vjekoslav Kaleb elementary schools, one small creative first-grader, and many, many dear collaborators and guests.
In line with this year’s theme, we are unveiling what has been hidden from view and presenting interesting items from our museum storage. In each of the rooms where the museum collections are on display, we will reveal intriguing objects from our museum depot, talk about what we do when you don’t see us working, and explore what is hidden from view but essential for our visible presentation. How are museum items preserved? What is in the museum storage? How do we create an exhibition? These, and many other questions, are what we will answer during this year’s Night of Museums.
Visitors to our Night of Museums can join a group or individual tour of our exhibition, discover newly revealed objects and stories, participate in our special quiz as part of our first-ever “Quizoteca”, which will be held in front of the museum, enjoy a musical performance by the women’s choir KUD Zora from Betina, and relax with friends while enjoying some snacks.
Children will have fun in workshops and magical treasure hunts, and they will also be able to take photos in our photo booth!
See you there!
Night Tour Through the Permanent Exhibition
At 6:00 PM, we open our doors for a museum tour. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore both the visible and the hidden treasures — our permanent exhibition as well as artifacts from our museum storage, specially showcased for the Night of Museums. With the guidance of our expert museum curators, you will uncover archival documents, contracts, shipbuilding certificates, and photographs that reveal fascinating aspects of Betina’s heritage, along with objects that have never been exhibited before.
A wealth of interesting and original documents will shed light on the history of Betina’s wooden shipbuilding tradition, revealing how shipbuilders and blacksmiths trained for their craft and passed on their knowledge to future generations. Old photographs will offer glimpses into life in the past, while special artifacts will highlight the skills and tools used by master craftsmen of previous eras.
Through the stories shared by our expert guides, visitors will learn about how traditional boats were built, how they were maintained, and what materials ensured their longevity.

Secrets of the Museum Depot
At 6:30 PM, we are opening an exhibition of artifacts, archival documents, and old photographs: “Secrets of the Museum Depot“.
The museum storage is a place where objects not included in the permanent exhibition are kept—a silent treasury of museum memory, preserving stories and artifacts from being forgotten. Many world museums occasionally organize special guided tours through their storage rooms, and our museum depot is located in the Betina Presentation Center.
On this special Night of Museums, we are bringing fascinating objects from our depot into the exhibition, where visitors will have the chance to discover their stories through a guided tour.
“When I Grow Up, I Will Be an Artist”
“When I Grow Up, I Will Be an Artist” is the title of an exhibition by first – grader Bartol Juraga, the youngest exhibition author in our museum’s history. On this Night of Museums, Bartol will present his first artistic steps, offering a glimpse into his creative world.
It’s not an overstatement to say that Bartol is an artist in the making, and we hope this exhibition will serve as inspiration for his future artistic journey. His talent was recognized by Ivana Skroza, an art teacher, who passionately mentors students at Murterski Škoji Elementary School and Vjekoslav Kaleb Elementary School.
Despite his young age, Bartol is serious and dedicated to his work, drawing inspiration from the world around him. We are thrilled that his first-ever exhibition will be hosted in our museum!
Exhibition opening: 7:00 PM
Workshop: “Free Dobby”
Our youngest visitors can join the “Free Dobby” workshop, where we’ll explore how socks can be turned into creative magic and, indeed, help us free our own Dobby!
For a special memory, we have also created a photo corner inspired by the Night of Museums and the world of Harry Potter. Take a picture with your own owl, magic wand, wizard robe, or hat and embrace the magic!
Workshop starts at: 7:00 PM
Art Workshop: “Black and White in Colour”
A special artistic backdrop for this Night of Museums workshop was prepared by 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students from Vjekoslav Kaleb Elementary School.
As part of their “School Coloring Book” project, students created detailed black-and-white drawings of Murter and Betina, later combining them into a large-format collaborative artwork.
On this black-and-white canvas, featuring island-themed illustrations, participants of the workshop will have the chance to bring the scene to life with colours, creating an entirely new artistic vision. The artwork can also serve as inspiration for visitors to create their own unique drawings.
Workshop starts at 7:30 PM, led by Ivana Skroza.
A Musical Treat by KUD Zora
Our talented singers, members of KUD Zora from Betina, have prepared a special musical treat for Night of Museums visitors! Enjoy their performance outdoors, in front of the Museum.
KUD Zora is a young female vocal group founded in Betina in 2022. The group consists of nine singers, and their repertoire includes traditional Dalmatian klapa songs. On this special museum night, they will perform some of these beautiful melodies for us.
