Summer in our Museum

A lot of happenings this summer in our museum. The street outside the museum is again full of interesting workshops, concerts, movie projections for kids…

The programme is made in cooperation with other associations from our island. There’ll be a little something for everyone. Educative and creative workshops will be held for children, but we’re guessing that more interesting to them would be the cartoon projections on the big wall of the old community centre.

The wall outside the museum will be a perfect spot for the projection of old photos few days before the most interesting local festivity – Brganja Day, dedicated to a shell – picking tradition of the village. The evening is pictured as a gathering with the elderly locals who would share their stories with us. The traditional women’s rowing regatta will took place on the day of the fest and we’re proud to have guest rowers from Piran as well this year – thanx to our friends from the Maritime Museum in Piran, Slovenia.

August will be the time when our museum is head organizer of the Days of Small Wooden Shipbuilding. The programme is dedicated to lovers of the sea and ships, maritime heritage and tradition. The intention organizing this event is to get a little closer to a wider audience and to point out the importance of preserving our maritime culture. The programme is divided in 6 days during which various lectures and workshops will be held. We’re expecting expert lecturers and presenters in various fields, interesting topics and, as an end to this event, the well – known Regatta “Za dušu i tilo” (For Body and Soul) will took place in Betina harbour. Regatta is the highlight of the summer in Betina for many reasons. We’re proud of the regatta mostly because of a significant number of renewed wooden boats competing – or, since the competition itself is not the main reason for participating in this regatta, just hanging around with friends and families, having fun, sailing, enjoying life…
